Photos from Hikes in the Palo Duro Canyon 2018
Hiking in the Palo Duro Canyon is kind of a pilgrimage for us each time we visit Amarillo. This tiny grand canyon is a delightful surprise in this flat, almost featureless tableland.

Derek and Kelsey’s wedding was beautiful. They seem to bring out the best in each other which is lovely to behold.
In these photos here you can see Derek with his bride Kelsey at their rehearsal dinner, and get a glimpse into Aunt Clara’s remarkable hospitality.
Little did we know that we’d have a front row seat for each sunrise! The ever-changing light was magnificent.
What better way to celebrate than appreciate nature’s delicious bounty and the myriad variety of pumpkins?
Hope you find something here that is inspiring, informative, interesting, motivating, illuminating, or helpful!
I have fallen back on making some blog favorites which are always worth revisiting… Check out their photos and recipes here.
Here are some nuggets from my private prayers that I’ve been outwardly working on lately:
This is Putnam State Park in early autumn, before the first frost, taken with my iphone, with no filters or Photoshop.
I snapped these photos this month, rejoicing in what we were having, instead of pinning after what we had hoped for. Good was still going on, beauty was still present, it was just different.
Sometimes the way is steep and daunting. Often here are big obstacles in the way. This painting is about surmounting. We can find ways around, and even if our course if zig zagged, we can overcome, get above and beyond and see a better view.
Here are some shots of the end of our season as we await our first hard frost. There are only leeks, parsley, mint, and green tomatoes left out there now.
Mushrooms
nudge and cling
everywhere
through the
wet and rain
with soggy feet
no wonder
they are shaped
like umbrellas
We spent the last weekend manning a Christian Science booth at the Health and Wellness Expo in Stamford, Connecticut. We shared inspirational quotes, sold Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy (three times as many as last year), gave away past issues of the Sentinel magazine, and invitations to Christian Science lectures in the area.
Now I am furthering my ongoing goal of appreciating such a continuous, overflowing abundance of random good.
This is a marvelous little book. I loved it and give it five stars. It chronicles a man’s first 16 months in the wilds of Alaska in the late 60’s.
This takes some time but makes a lot, so it is great for feeding a larger group, or for having leftovers during the week.
