After painting sunflowers on Monhegan, I wanted to try my hand at abstracting some.

Heaps of Windblown Dried Grasses at Christmas Cove (Landscape Painting in Pastel)
I liked how the directional lined grass marks in the foreground contrasted with the chunky rock marks in the distance.

Into the Autumn Field (New Landscape Painting in Oil)
I love painting outside in the fall, and it is so fun to get to use my cadmiums! They’ve just done the haying the hill, so the field is bare. It’s the place to be but getting there is gorgeous too.

These cheery sentinels greeted us each day in the gardens on Monhegan, and it was delightful to have the opportunity to paint them in plein air there on a beautiful day. Monhegan Butterfly Garden (New Floral Painting in Pastel)
There were lots of monarchs and other butterflies on Monhegan and it was delightful to spend a beautiful day with them painting them, watching them flit around and gulp down nectar for their migration from the lovely gardens there.

I Had a Painting in a Group Show about “Home”
