I thought the new version of Cinderella that came out this past weekend was marvelous. I absolutely loved it, and even though some people complain that it is “one dimensional” and not cutting edge, I give it five stars for doing the classic story justice in a beautiful way.
I was excited to see the sequel, but unfortunately was disappointed with it.
I loved this new movie about a California track coach, played by Kevin Costner. It is an inspiring true story of a high school of migrant produce pickers’ children being led to exceed what they thought was possible.
We are sorry to be done with the four seasons of this BBC period costume drama that was aired between 2009 and 2013. We watched it recently on Amazon Prime instant streaming at the recommendation of a homeschooling friend, and we are so glad we did! We loved it and highly recommend it.
We really enjoyed this two-season TV series, The Paradise, a BBC costume drama put out on PBS’s Masterpiece Theater.
And even though the message, “Be careful what you wish for,” might be good, there were too many loose ends and mixed messages to get a better review from me.
I’m a bit conflicted, I guess because the beauty added by the visuals of the panoramic vistas were more than offset by the disturbingly graphic portrayal of the rest of the scenes.
Stephen Hawking’s groundbreaking work relates to proving the universe is without limits, so it seems fitting that he would defy the limitations put on him.
I’ve had the above book Outlander on my shelf for years. I bought it with a Border’s gift card at the store’s closing at the urging of friends that loved it.

I enjoyed this movie and give it four stars. It is about an English teacher and an Art teacher in a private prep High School that compete between classrooms over what is more powerful and important: words or pictures.
My expectations were not high for this movie but I loved it. To my surprise, I give it five stars, overlooking suggestions to rank it lower because of profanity, or because of the improbability of a food blog going viral, or to simply trivialize it because it is not “important.”
This movie by Wes Anderson was more quirky than his movie Moonrise Kingdom– if that is possible– and more raunchy, crass, and violent too.
