Fostering a new renaissance through creativity, authenticity, spirituality, and art
There is something about the glory and the transformational nature about a sunset that it demands its photo to be taken. What a feast of color and beauty these were. These photos give a slice of what it felt like to witness them– awe, and honor, and humbleness.
Creative Arts Camp was a wonderful week with fabulous people in a beautiful place. Everyone was busting past limits, all while being supported and loved.
Well, I have just completed my first time ever being an Artist in Residence, which is something I hope to have a chance to do again, both in this program and in other places.
We worked to exchanging things into thoughts, seeing the ideas of Soul, instead of objects of sense.
I gave my PowerPoint talk on abstraction last Saturday evening. The talk is titled Abstraction: From Impressionism to Non-Objective Art and it has 300 slides utilizing both my photography and artwork to explain abstract art and help the audience understand it better.
I can’t help myself, I’ve featured Karen Montanaro the last two years at Creative Arts Camp and now I’m doing it again.
I love my life
More than I ever thought I could
Because I’ve learned I can’t die.
My first day as Artist in Residence at camp was rained out, so since plein air pastel painting was not possible, I concentrated on painting black and white abstract works with depth.
This is the first year I have had the honor of both teaching here as well as being an artist in residence. I’m teaching a class called The Art of Seeing…
She talks about the dialectic between form and content, concluding that form is the more crucial of the two, but what I guess I’m saying here is that I think content matters too.
So now I am furthering my ongoing goal of appreciating such a continuous, overflowing abundance of random good. I’ve even taken photographs of some of them –mostly with my iPhone– which you can see in this post.
This is a peak into my process of how I develop my visual language as an artist…
Forgiveness is the other side of the coin of healing. Because Jesus could forgive sins, he healed. Do it too.
You can see a majority of the paintings in the show in this post, along with many close-up details of the work. Work in the show included mostly Millet, some Cassatt (including her pastel box shown last below), and Degas, among others.
So I recommend reading this book when it comes out. We all need to deeply hear the message here. It is certainly of this present moment, more than anything else I’ve read in a long time.
