Today I picked our younger daughter up at Rose-Hulman’s Operation Catapult Engineering Camp, located in Terre Haute, Indiana. Rose-Hulman is a strong undergraduate engineering program that is routinely ranked #1 among engineering schools that do not have PhD programs.
I felt like this list of myth-busting summed it up fairly well and that it can be applied to adults too.

Together with our youngest, I drove 35 hours this past week through seven states to see six colleges. We had a great time, and it was all very clarifying and illuminating.
Can we create a worthy educational system and a fair college application process that honors their potential and makes the most of it? Please, as Americans, let us embrace and nurture our gifted instead of being such fools.
I was so glad to see the video clip below of the mom of an autistic child who didn’t accept his terrible prognosis and trusted her own instincts for what was best for him over the experts who told her otherwise.
Do not ask your children
to strive for extraordinary lives.
Such striving may seem admirable,
but it is a way of foolishness.
I recently made the large scrafitto popcorn bowl, and the carved vase. Our youngest daughter made the amazing teapot of a dragon emerging from an egg.
I think it is important to talk about art, but many people don’t know where to begin. This question guide could be used to get more out of a museum visit, or as a tool for classroom children or homeschooling parents.
High school is a time to tailor offerings even more diligently to the specific needs of our unique pupils than ever before. It is not a time to buckle to the “system” and start playing the “game.”
