Fostering a new renaissance through creativity, authenticity, spirituality, and art
I have been enjoying my new watercolor kit that is easy to hike with. Here are what I did in the California National Parks, some of which I like better than others! All have been a learning experience, which is the point.
Lassen National Park is lovely at sunset with light that changes quickly. Above, you can see Mount Lassen reflected in Manzanita Lake.
I have loved painting outside on location in the California National Parks. These works are small, but were very fun to do. They are drying in the back window of my car.
We loved Lassen Volcanic National Park in northern California. Not very heavily visited, it is a hidden jewel of a park and we are very glad we chose to include it on our tour.
I am brimming
with awe and gratitude
for reciprocal connection
experienced and realized
this communion Sunday.
On the street a woman was walking along with her pet parrot and shared her for a while with our delighted daughter… I love these wonderful “coincidences” that seem so obliquely coreographed!
We have mostly been featuring hearty breakfasts, having made muesli and bird seed bars before we came, and supplementing that with oatmeal and fresh fruit.
The High Sierra Trail is a wonderful trail. I don’t know why more people don’t do it here in Sequoia National Park, because it is outstanding. But we had it to ourselves.
We enjoyed a tour of Crystal Cave in Sequoia National Park. It is different than the caves we have back east since this one is carved out of marble.
We enjoyed Sequoia National Park very much. We visited the most massive tree in the world– General Sherman –which was protected from loggers by the US Calvary, as well as the tree with the largest circumference– General Grant.
We enjoyed meandering along the King’s River in King’s Canyon. The rushing sound of this water is one of the audio snap shots I bring with me as a treasure from this trip.
We enjoyed Kings Canyon National Park. It is the deepest canyon in America (far deeper than the Grand Canyon) and it is made out of granite and marble instead of softly erodible rock.
So as we were driving between Yosemite and Lake Tahoe, we noticed that one of the two horizontal prongs holding up our bikes on our Thule rack had sheered off.
We enjoyed the Emerald Bay and had fun tooling through the galleries in South Lake Tahoe.
