I teach an Abstract Art class early Monday mornings for homeschooled high schoolers at the Pathways Cooperative in Newtown, Connecticut, and this week was the end of the semester with a little show (see above).

Every year the Connecticut Pastel Society hosts a national show titled Renaissance in Pastel. It is a juried show, and is tough to get in.

I had a great time last Saturday going into New York City with a friend to see the Enduring Brilliance Show of the Pastel Society of America, where we also went to their materials fair.

I’m in the Guilford Arts League Juried Show
My painting above– one from my music series– got in this year’s Guilford Arts League Juried Show, held at the Mill Gallery. The opening was last night.
Pastel Show at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts (with close up details)
You can see a majority of the paintings in the show in this post, along with many close-up details of the work. Work in the show included mostly Millet, some Cassatt (including her pastel box shown last below), and Degas, among others.
