Spiritual Pep Talk from a College Student
Focus your mind so intently on love. It seems hard in the moment because it’s so tempting to pay attention to the firework display of sorrow for yourself. But is it? Just stop. Breathe.

Catkins emerge
so tenderly
with such a meek beginning
as a foreshadowed precursor
in vibrancy and joy…
After a winter like ours, if is a great pleasure to be out walking amidst all this glorious color!
You can see it has been a full month! Here are the articles, blogs, podcasts and videos from this month that I felt were worth sharing.
I made these two nesting bowls for spring. I made them on the wheel, then carved the bottoms, glazing them inside with “mystery blue” and on the outside with a layer of turquoise underglaze followed by a layer of chartreuse glaze.
After my blog “Uncleanness Cast Out,” this bit of an article was sent to me by a blog reader. It is by an Episcopalian bishop from an article titled, “The Meaning of the Passion Opens into the Meaning of a Resurrection.”
Photos on this post show what we’ve been eating lately. The links below show (in no particular order) the recipes for what you see here that are already on the blog
I enjoyed this movie about the restitution of the Gustav Klimt painting “Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer” to it’s rightful owner after it was stolen by the Nazi’s and then re-appropriated by the Austrian government. It is a true story,

Fifteen weeks in, I’m just about on target on my Reading Challenge for 2015. How are you doing? I’m trying for one in each category before I do much doubling up. So far I’ve read a book for 20 out of the 52 categories.
I saw clearly that the Christ did not just cast out that one man’s uncleanness, but everyone’s for all time, including you and me and everybody we pray for.
The weather today was the best we’ve had. Our youngest daughter and I enjoyed this hike to this waterfall in Redding, Connecticut, even though the way was not easy. Here are my photos from the day. We delighted in frogs, skunk cabbage, and vibrant moss. Once at the waterfall, we took the time to sketch it.
Laura and I enjoyed getting to see Juniata’s pottery studio today. Here are some photos of it…
