Photos from a Rugged Hike to a Waterfall
The weather today was the best we’ve had. Our youngest daughter and I enjoyed this hike to this waterfall in Redding, Connecticut, even though the way was not easy. Here are my photos from the day. We delighted in frogs, skunk cabbage, and vibrant moss. Once at the waterfall, we took the time to sketch it.
Enjoying Early Spring Flowers in Our Yard
These crocus, scilla, and daffodils in our yard are such a welcome sight! And you can see our youngest homeschooling in our new camp chairs on the porch in order to bask in the glory of these modest early spring blooms!

Our Team at the New England Robotics Championships
I had a great time watching our youngest daughter’s FIRST robotics team compete in the New England Robotics Championships in Massachusetts. I went up to watch the last two days, and it is a suprisingly engaging spectator sport; all the people and action were fascinating, with widely varied approaches to both robot solutions and team style.
Easter 2015
Happy Easter! This is a wonderful holiday full of hope of rebirth, gratitude for what Jesus did for us, and the glorious promise of eternal life. I hope you enjoyed it!
First Vibrant Greens of Spring
Most of the snow is gone, and there are these vibrant pops of color in the mosses and lichens around, nurtured by all the moisture we’ve had this year. How I rejoice at seeing them, and how intense they are in their flagrance!
Photos from a Palm Sunday Walk
I love the recognition and triumph of Palm Sunday. Hosanna in the highest! After a lovely church service, I went on this contemplative hike by myself in Huntington State Park, where the lakes have not yet thawed.
Fog and Trees in Black & White
This morning’s walk was very foggy. We’ve had a week in the 40’s, so our snow is largely melted, revealing the first soil we’ve seen in months.

Black and White Snow Photos
Yes, it has been still snowing here, regardless of the calendar changing to March. However temperatures have risen, and now 22 degrees feels like a heat wave, so we are hopeful anyway that spring is around the corner.

Kyra is a delightful young lady in our Sunday School who is graduating from high school this year. I was honored to be asked to take her senior pictures!
Snow Photos
We’ve had a very snowy season here… most Monday and Tuesday activities have been cancelled since New Years. I have only been to the pottery studio twice since the holidays, since Tuesday mornings have so often been impassable.
