The above dinner our daughter bought me in the airport as a special treat to thank me for my hard work moving her into her apartment…
Yesterday we discovered the Sacramento Food Co-op near our daughter’s new home. What a wonderful place! When first we visited, I thought it was fun that she was wearing my old food co-op shirt from my college days when I was active in the early food movement.
Here are some of the other miscellaneous photos I took on our trip to North Carolina to see family…
We had a wonderful dinner together at City Kitchen in Chapel Hill. As a special treat I had the swordfish and it was fantastic; it is shown first below. This restaurant is pricey but delicious!
We had a wonderful family afternoon at the North Carolina Museum of Art, that started with a delicious lunch at their restaurant (called Iris).
This is a delicious vegetarian meal served with a simple side salad of garden lettuce, avocado and cilantro. You can make the peppers as spicy as you like; we are wusses and use about 3/4 of a tablespoon of chili powder, but I know others that would want more.
Above is the most foodie meal I had this week. Also we went out for sushi where I had delicious (cooked) salmon on a bed of avocado…
We enjoyed this bakery in Sacramento and made phone calls from here to get appointments to see apartments in the upcoming week.
But amid it all was this delightful oasis of a delicious restaurant that we had stumbled on all because of rumbling stomachs and a tiny sign.
I love a good eggplant parmesan, and this one blows the socks off of any I’ve ever had.

This is a wonderfully delicious vegetarian meal or could also be offered as a excellent family style side dish.
You’ll find the following recipes on the blog for these recent menus around here. Enjoy the photos as well.
I’m not terribly keen on kale, but this beautiful cookbook is doing its best to change that.
Obviously, you could serve these traditionally on buns, but I serve ours topped with homemade roasted peppers. It would be good as well topped with a spicy mayonnaise.
