What to Pack
Pack not only your prayers,
and your willingness
to be open to remarkable good,
but bring a great attitude
as well as your stamina,
patience, flexibility,
and strength.
Toss in a whole lot of awe,
bundled up in alert curiosity
and a healthy thirst for the
assorted smiles of strangers.
Tie that securely together
with an exploratory spirit,
and your love of color,
texture, and organic shape.
Throw in a generous dollop
of attentive awareness
with some amazement
and a little intrigue.
Be sure to include the
oil of gladness,
the smoothness of transition,
and enhanced adaptability.
Fill up your suitcase
with grace, kindness,
and a readiness to
watch, listen, and learn–
to discover, and to persevere.
Carry also with you everywhere
your security, safety,
health, and protection.
Cram that bag full of trust
in ever-present virtue,
stuff it with punctuality
and functionality,
and with an extra load
of intuition, worthiness,
and expanding opportunities
for insight.
Be prepared
for magnificence
as well as subtle detail,
for real connection,
for things to go right,
unfolding just as they should.
In around the edges,
fit in plenty of
enthusiastic eagerness,
combined with the
depths of compassion
and a compelling,
pervasive peace.
Then you’ll have
everything you need
to have a terrific time.
