Call to Action

No one
enters existence
as a spectator.
Life is an adventure!
You are named
and given possibility,
but never reduced to a role.
You get a vote in all the
spiritual transactions
that take place.
What are you becoming?
What is your lever of hope
to pry loose and
prop up the future?
Are you consecrated?
Are you born to bless
and give graciously to others?

Can you get past
your inadequacies
and your acquisitions
to consider yourself
a chosen vessel?

Awake
to the Source
of your becoming,
which is alive
and active,
and as real as
your closest neighbor.
Live well to become all
you are designed to be.
The present is where
you’ll get direction,
and meet your purpose.
Do not practice insufficiency.
Your excuses are pointless,
even if punctuated
by passionate bouts
of courageous caring.
Rather, plunge into life,
propelled, because you are
commanded and equipped,
preprogrammed and supported.

Our emotions and mood
should not determine
our level of participation.
Let your feelings
of deficiency melt into
adrenaline-charged obedience.
Your convulsive little ego
must not be given reign.

Instead, be a
consistent witness
of each one’s usefulness
and necessity.
We must learn
to live by the truth,
not by what we want,
nor by what is
expedient or easy.
There are no shortcuts.
You must experience
within yourself
that which you profess.

Undeterred by intimidation,
embarrassment, insecurity,
doubt, pain, or failure,
fear instead
worship without astonishment,
religion without commitment,
and worst, missing or evading
what the divine desires for you.

Do not squander your years
by not being vehemently human.
Turn, with persistent repentance
and a capacity for faithfulness,
sincere in seeking connection.
Do not let the crowd reduce you
to mindless passivity.

Let God shape your
perceptions and behavior.
Dive into life and do not
loiter on the fringes.
Whenever you practice
the disciplines of faith
you become
a little more vital.
Vow to do your best
with what is here.
Notice what you do have;
not what you don’t have.

Good intentions
are worthless
if not accompanied by
character development.
Premeditate goodness.
It does not just happen.
No one that is whole
is self-sufficient, so reject
haughty independence.

Have your ideas and beliefs
be translated into taking action–
with undeterred expectancy,
which is the only practical choice
because it refutes
the decay of the moment.
With humility, listen, soar, serve,
and lead by example–
as a prophet would,
a messenger
of practical potential.
