Photos from July Walks

These photos are of the same place I’ve been walking since lockdown, but the season, weather, and company have been very different. It has been hot and steamy– sultry– and often as humid as 96%. I checked during the heart of our wettest thunderstorm and even during heavy rain, the humidity is less than in most of these photos.

But we were blessed with the wonderful company of our youngest daughter, who graced us by choosing to work from here for seven weeks this summer. She has just returned to her next stint of teaching and grad school in Pennsylvania, but we were so glad she came to break up what would have been a gapingly sorry summer otherwise. With her, it became a special time, and these walks were a highlight of it all, oppressively muggy as they were.

We went early in the morning before work, when is was slightly cooler. The birds song was fabulous (you can hear some here on my Instagram account), flowers abounded in the meadows, and the early light was a great way to start the day. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to get to know this land so intimately, and am also thankful I got to share these stomping grounds repeatedly this summer with our daughter.

I work to amplify good wherever I find it. I love color, texture, beauty, great ideas, nature, metaphor, deliciousness, genuine spirituality, and exploring new territory. I encourage authenticity, nurture creativity, champion sustainability, promote peace, and hope to foster a new renaissance where we all are free to be our most fulfilled, multifaceted, and terrific selves. Contrary to what you assume, they ALL were taken with an iPhone.
