Today I drove down to Washington D.C. to pick up my oldest daughter from her internship, move her from Asher House in DC back to her house in Annapolis, and then bring her home for the weekend before school starts. She had a great internship! The photo above shows her with her office. Here are … Read more
Many years ago we started having my youngest daughter’s birthday party in the summer near her half birthday, due to multiple cancellations and rescheduling due to weather of anything we tried to plan in February. So a tradition of an August Quarry Party has evolved… A good time is had by all!
So I am back from pick up at Crystal Lake Camps and am thrilled my son had an awesome time during his counselor-in-training summer. I haven’t seen him in six weeks! Apparently, he and some friends resuscitated the camp’s science program and gave space shuttle simulations potent enough to make fast friends out of any … Read more
I had a wonderful afternoon swimming with my youngest at our local Quarry, she in a green dotted inner-tube, floating, with me swimming around her, frolicking for hours. I just dropped my son off at Crystal Lake Camp for two weeks of “Leadership Training” (extended canoe, backpacking & solo trips) to be immediately followed by four weeks as a counselor in training. (My youngest daughter is at camp right now in Colorado – mountain biking and white water rafting – so my husband … Read more
Today I moved our eldest daughter from college into Asher House for the summer. Many cities have Asher Houses for young students to live in along with other Christian Scientists. This D.C. Asher house is particularly lovely and well located – right off Dupont Circle. Our daughter is sharing a third floor room (over the … Read more
We had a lovely time at Badlands National Park, viewing it at sunset and sunrise on the edges of clear 106 degree days. We were also treated to a magnificent full moonrise, along with coy rabbits and interesting insects. Our first night in the tent was balmy and delightful. The evening and morning glow on … Read more
The other day, I posted my recent water lily photos, so it is only fitting to now post my recent photos of land lilies…

With our children scattered either out of state or out of the country, my husband and I seized the opportunity to escape alone together to Block Island.
