Last week I had the distinct pleasure of going to the Yale University Art Galleries for the first time. This is fairly ridiculous, since I live only 45 minutes away, and the art there was jaw-dropping fabulous! In the 25 years I have lived here, why have I not been there before? Fortunately a friend from my book group (and a fellow blog reader of yours) suggested the trip or I’d still have no idea of what I was missing.
The collection in Yale’s museum is outrageously tremendous. They have multiple paintings by many greats such as Van Gogh, Monet, Seurat, Picasso, Kandinsky, Hans Hoffman, etc, etc, etc. I was really amazed at the quality of what was there, and how well it was shown. And admission is free!
Stop by this gem the next time you are in Connecticut near New Haven! You’ll be really glad you did!

[…] Below the macro views of the Frankenthaler exhibit room, I include photos of paintings both in the museum’s permanent collection and in their other rotating exhibits. It is a nice little museum, and I’ll be back. The last photo below shows all the women artists who they’ve exhibited in the last year, while celebrating the ratification of the nineteenth amendment. If you are local or passing through, this museum is worth putting on your itinerary, along with the one at Yale. […]
