“It is my personal approach that creates the climate. It is my daily mood that makes the weather. I possess tremendous power to make life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration, I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal.
In all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis is escalated or de-escalated, and a person is humanized or de-humanized. If we treat people as they are, we make them worse. If we treat people as they ought to be, we help them become what they are capable of becoming.”
Well, that is a wonderful quote. I know I can do/be better. Thanks for posting it.
Thank you Polly – that’s thought-provoking and very helpful.
Lovely Polly! I find if I ride the bus into town in a happy mood then I see good things happening all around me. People smiling and chatting happily, the bus driver greeting everyone and being thanked as he waits for someone running to catch the bus! Everyone going about their day joyously. I tend to accomplish my shopping needs effortlessly too. The challenge is to do the same when you don’t feel in a happy mood! But it is worth the effort!!
