This is rather surprising, big news for me!
I was recently juried into the Pastel Society of America, which is the most prestigious pastel group in the world.
My mother would have been gobsmacked. I know several pillars in the pastel community that applied twenty years in a row before being allowed into membership, and I was accepted on my first try! Also, I had a purely abstract application, and am one of the first very few taken on that basis. Most of the abstract artists in the Pastel Society of America got in on representational work.
This is bucket list stuff for me, and I’m thrilled. I “get inducted” in the fall, and hope to be in future shows in New York City at the National Arts League.
The application was based on five paintings, and you can see the ones I submitted in this post. You’ll recognize them probably from this blog.
