Day 14: Ingonish Beach Campground, Nova Scotia
We loved our six days at the Ingonish Beach Campground in Cape Breton Highlands National Park.

The flowers have been lovely, with lupine, lilacs, rhododendrons, and poppies everywhere. It is like spring here, a couple months behind the flowers at home.
These are the plein air paintings I did while in Nova Scotia. They are stylized on purpose, if you are curious, but the colors really are not exaggerated.
you can see ocean vistas, green hills the color of spring (in some cases they were almost yellow or turquoise!), moose barrens, bogs on the plateaus, rivers that look like root beer flowing, pink granite, crashing waves, lupine, lobster boats, and the Aspy fault line.
I’ve seen carnivorous pitcher plants before but never their flowers! check them out!
We enjoyed this exceptional hike in the Nova Scotia Highlands.
The fog rose from the ocean in a surreal way. The greens were very green, and you realize that July is their spring.
Since we were driving today, I thought I’d catch you up on what we’ve been eating.
First below you can see the requisite boats at low and high tide, them follow us out to the farthest low tide here, which is one kilometer out.
In the photos, you can see we started at high tide, and watched it go out, and finally explored around when the tide was low.
It was moist and cool, and the gushing sound of the water was as soothing to the ears as the vivid green moss was to the eyes.
The range of type of rocks here on this coastline is amazing and we saw a bald eagle and beautiful sunset too!
We visit Sand Beach and Thunder Hole, painting at both.
Our younger daughter and I have left for a month long camping trip to Maine, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, and Prince Edward’s Island.
