Thanksgiving 2009

I’m thankful for
God, infinite, ever-present, all-powerful good
who wanted me, made me and actually loves me.

I’m thankful for
my husband and children, my family and friends
and that we are safe, and happy and healthy.

I’m thankful for
eyes to see with, ears to hear with, fingers to touch with
a mouth to talk with, and legs to walk with.

I’m thankful for
ever-flowing creativity, unstoppable inspiration,
variegated texture, and sumptuously luscious color.

I’m thankful for
making continuous progress, learning all the time, becoming more understanding,
more obedient, more streamlined, and of better service to others.

I’m thankful for
books and movies
that that move me, stimulate me, and galvanize me.

I’m thankful for
food, glorious in flavor and aesthetic appeal,
and that it is getting easier to buy organic and local.

I’m thankful for
fellowship in all my communities,
church, homeschooling, artists and internet.

I’m thankful for
the daily outlet of my blog and my box-a-day art journal
which has been so sustaining, affirming, and grounding for me.

I’m thankful for
the opportunities my children have
that cause them to thrive and blossom and grow.

I’m thankful for
the beauty of the woods, hill and stream, for still water reflected,
for majestic mountains, crashing waves, sunsets and flowers.

I’m thankful for
my parent’s assisted living facility
and for my sister that faithfully attends to their every need.

I’m thankful for
our house and that we bought it when we did;
it easily embraces us and evolves to meet our needs.

I’m thankful for
employment and for busy, fulfilling days
making a needed, practical contribution in the world.

I’m thankful for
having seen all our extended family this year,
on a trip to Amarillo for Easter, and to North Carolina for the wedding.

I’m thankful for
an unexpected honeymoon trip to Block Island with my husband,
and two trips to Maine, one with my daughter and one to Creative Arts Camp.

I’m thankful for
our country of freedom and democracy
and my persistent hope that we’ll get it together at home and abroad.

I’m thankful for
old friends, who have steadfastly stood by me
and that the more things change the more they stay the same.

I’m thankful for
the new friends I’ve made this year;
I find this so encouraging; it gives me peace with the ebb and flow of life.

I’m thankful for
all those that care for me:
God knows I need you!

Happy Thanksgiving!
