I don’t often get out in a long dress with rhinestones!
We had the privilege on Friday night to go to the Spring Gala at the National Museum for Women in the Arts with my sister-in-law and her husband. The museum was celebrating the completion of an extensive renovation and the place looked marvelous.
The National Museum of Women in the Arts is doing the important work of championing women’s artwork, which has less that 11% representation in other museums.
We first had appetizers and drinks on the third floor, in the permanent collection, seeing Lee Krasner and Joan Mitchell among others. After that, we descended to the second floor to take in some contemporary work. Then we proceeded down the stairs past a well placed Elaine deKooning, to the blue-lit first floor, for dinner and dancing.
