These are the epitome of a “cosy mystery.” I found them delightfully entertaining. You follow Vera Vixen, who is a fox, and the town’s journalist, as she solves local murders.
These books are super easy, breezy, quick reads, set in an autumn woodland, with all sorts of local creatures. One must suspend their disbelief at the door; there are interspecies relationships, and a moose runs the coffee shop, while a crow runs the bookstore. Vera is both brave and savvy, and these plots are never scary, but often humorous.
I found them to be pure fun, and not at all taxing. I thought you might want to know about them. I’ve listened to them on audio, so recommend them that way as well. I give them 4 stars.
