Nice Weekend in Portland Maine

Nice Weekend in Portland Maine

nice weekend in Portland

Our California daughter was going to a wedding of a friend from her grad school program in Portland Maine, so we drove up there, seeing her the second weekend in a row (the other time in North Carolina).

Maine, however, was cold and it snowed the morning of the wedding. We spent Friday, Saturday brunch (meeting up with a former Sunday school student for that as well), and Sunday lunch with our daughter.

Friday we ate lunch out together at Isa, then walked around a lot (taking abstract photos of spalling brick sidewalks), before going to the Portland Museum of Art . It is free on Fridays from 4-6.  When we were there they had floral arrangements designed to mimic the art.

We were grateful to be able to borrow a friend’s apartment to use while we were there, and we worked from the apartment on Saturday, while our daughter was at the wedding. We also went with another friend for dinner Saturday night, where we had fabulous lobster rolls. Sunday we enjoyed seeing all sorts of people we knew at the Portland Christian Science church, and got to tour their new Reading Room.

All in all we had a great time.

Here are the restaurants we loved:

Isa (first food photos below)

Ocotillo (Saturday brunch photos)

and Luke’s Lobster (amazingly good lobster roll)

Keep these in mind if you ever visit Portland!

Thank you to a couple of you blog readers for making this all possible!
