Live Larger (New Poem by Polly Castor)

Live Larger, poem by Polly Castor

Live Larger

Are you thinking of self?
Are you gazing at your navel,
and wondering why
you are so uninspired?
Is your existence narrowing,
becoming tight-fisted and defensive?
Are your parameters closing in?
Are you marinating in a stupor
of petty purposes, limiting beliefs,
and downward spiraling thoughts?

Then set down your tweezers,
and start painting with a
God-sized brush instead.
Toss wide your doors
and enlarge your tent.
Live in broad strokes,
with plenty of room
for blessing everyone.
Dance with unabashed courage,
flinging off any self-absorption,
and start working to benefit others.

With this comes
the law of expansion.
Opportunity floods in.
Usefulness soars, rapturous.
This enlarged view,
beyond the cramped confines
of personal circumstance,
brings boundless energy
increased initiative,
and maximized motivation,
all sponsored by universal love.

Turn from
the feeble and fleeting.
Get outside the
stifling boundaries
of your piddling
acquaintance.
Cast away whatever
is inconsequential
and restricting.
Stop complaining.
Refuse to criticize.
Slip out of the noose
of your anxious smallness.

Roll up your sleeves
and help someone else.
Cavort with and pursue
ideals that will endure
throughout all eternity.
Embrace and explore
the huge immensity of life,
which is so much bigger
than your puny sense of it.
Perceive and be intrigued by
a multitude of perspectives.
Investigate a plethora of topics,
finding fascination forthcoming.
Exercise your generosity,
creativity, and kindness.
Be as spacious as possible,
gratefully satisfied
with the good all around you.

Rouse in others
the glory
of being alert
and responsive
to the vastness
of the infinite.
Encourage inclusiveness
and comprehensive care.

Reaching outside yourself
to live larger
will inadvertently fulfill
your uniquely enormous
and essential destiny
of inexhaustible health,
relentless freedom,
valuable contribution,
and tremendous joy.
