This is a painting I’ve thought about painting for some time, and what better place to do it than lakeside?
Mary Baker Eddy refers to the “ocean of Love” when talking about baptism. From this reference evolved a euphemism where my Christian Science teacher, when hearing a bunch of clap trap (he called it “devil talk”) he’d say, “Go jump in the lake.” It came to suggest: make a radical shift away from your concerns and immerse yourself instead in divine Love. Plunge in and let the waters of Spirit cleanse all that from you. We may need to take that mental swim even multiple times a day!
That concept is what I painted here. Some of this paint was thrown, some dribbled, and some carefully stippled on. It is 30″x40″ and done in acrylic.
