What You Do and Think Matters!

What you think and do matters

Collective evils are made up of insipid little individual evils. Therefore any purifying we do, of ourselves or our environment, contributes to the whole. Every single error we overcome in our own life, supports the eventual overthrowing of error in the entire world.

There are all sorts of ways to do this. Try not thinking that judgmental thought, because you haven’t walked in their shoes, and might not understand as much as you think you do. Assiduously keep your kitchen sink clear of dirty dishes, or your table free of clutter. Respond immediately to emails and texts, not allowing them to back log, languish, or drag you down. Express kindness everywhere you go. Refuse to be tempted by… whatever it is that whispers in your ear that you want it and need it, when you actually don’t. These are all hugely valid victories. They literally change the world.

Have you ever heard of the butterfly effect? Scientists have definitively proven that the slightest bat of a butterfly wing sets off an astounding ripple effect. In other words, everything we do matters to all that happens everywhere. Get over thinking that what you do does not matter or make a difference. If a butterfly wing is making a difference, you are, for sure!

The way you go through the grocery line matters. The way you respond to that friend whose Dad just passed on matters. The way you drive matters. The way you stop to smell the flowers matters. The way you tried your best matters. The way you corrected that mistake matters. The way that you persevered, even when daunted, matters. The way you listen matters. The way you think maybe matters most of all.

With right thinking spawning everywhere, it is clear that evil has no chance. With the right information available, misunderstandings vanish along with all the catastrophes they cause. Constructive and proactive goodness replaces fear, ignorance, and sin. As more and more align with Godlike thinking, evil and error will cower, squelch, and eventually suffocate for lack of air.

Good is always appearing. Likewise, evil must diminish and disappear. Notice and celebrate good appearing in yourself, in others, and in the world.  Amplify that in whatever way you can.

Jesus started with only five loaves and two fishes, but was grateful enough for that meager provision for it to multiply sufficiently to feed a multitude. Are we grateful enough for all the good we have and include? Is it even possible to be grateful enough? One can at least try, and enjoy the efforts, since by doing so, joy is unfurled and starts waving its triumphal flag.

Of course, it is easy to detect evil in others, and more difficult to persist, laser-like, in accentuating even the smallest good in ourselves.  Start by endeavoring to keep things in your own sphere of influence. Instead of lamenting on the perceived imperfections in others, work to get any error out of your own thought, by supplanting it with good. This is how your butterfly wing will have its best, most reverberatingly beneficial effect.

Avoid recriminating yourself, or going on a witch hunt for ways to beat yourself up. We are not only too hard on others, we are also too hard on ourselves. Gently exchange thoughts for better ones, as they organically come up. Make sure your thoughts are constructive and tending in the direction that will be the most helpful and positive both for you and others.

Strive to see good as more and more powerful. Learn how practical that approach is, for blessings will continue to flow in their wake. With the light of God shining in your thoughts, darkness cannot help but flee. Believe in that light and its power. Become one with it.

Stop focusing on error or evil. Stop wringing your hands and instead look up and smile. You have the power, not only to change your world, but in every slightest increment, you can improve the entire collective experience as well, in ways beyond what you’ll ever know or imagine.

It is hugely worth doing! Soon you’ll see that your power for good effect is not about any personal effort. It is tantamount to being in unity with God, the Source of all good– our very Life itself. That is a highly recommended place of relish and bliss. Let’s abide there, settle in, and get comfortable.

So start, one little tiny bit at a time, knowing for sure that the smallest good adds up, and will make a difference. What you do and think matters!
