Anointed Hands
What if we held
every facet of our Life
with anointed hands?
Let’s be thankful
for our restful sleep,
that rejuvenates, revives,
renews, and invigorates;
let’s offer expansive praise
that we have actually awakened
to the gift of this unused, new day.
Let’s consecrate ourselves
every morning when we get up,
to glorifying the Divine
with every fiber of our being
as its dutifully humble servant.
Let’s be grateful for
the smell of clean laundry,
and the feel of fabric on our skin.
While imbibing each last
little morsel of our breakfast,
let’s honor where it came from,
and bless all the effort
and feet and resources
that made it possible
to get here to be digested.
Let’s marvel
at the transformation
of nourishment into energy
that translates all our activity,
movement, stamina,
and achievement into being.
And what a privilege it is,
gulping our great guzzles
of water, absorbing this boon
on which we safely float, buoyant.
Let’s experience every sip
as a baptism cleansing us pure,
as we embrace each launch
of perpetually fresh joy.
Let’s consider
every detail of our lives
a conscious ritual of thanksgiving,
and devote our daily attention
to intimate appreciation
of ever-present good,
cherishing all our
growing awareness.
Everyday miracles encircle us.
Right now, right here
is a holy place.
Let’s hallow
every aspect as sacred,
noticing the abundance of
satisfying sacraments
that surround us.
Were you really grateful today
for the wrapper on the bread?
