Awaken in Love’s Likeness
Whispered waking
at daybreak
as weak light ekes
around the mullion
with promises
of more to come
-yes, I’m getting up-
I can’t languish here
when there is so much
to be grateful for.
You, for instance,
all warm in your cocoon
poured out in dreams,
galavanting with loved ones
throughout the ethereal realm,
drowsily stirring,
and reaching for embrace.
One of us is usually impelled,
catapulted out, before the other.
We inadvertently take turns rising early
so much good to get busy and honor
–infinity to greet, divinity to meet–
while the other burrows deeper
for a more horizontal reflection.
We have a worthy day to claim
and must receive it with open arms,
letting it rush toward us
in glittering rays that softly murmur
how cherished we are.
We must realize it, own it, be it,
seize it, jubilantly squeeze it,
relinquishing any hesitancy
or lingering doubts,
and fully awaken
in Love’s likeness.
