Time to challenge myself with some exercises again! Here I explore line and veiling in black and white.
Sometimes when I listen to stuff I doodle, mostly to keep my hands busy. My artist’s journal is a great place to do this. It is also a wonderful way to try out compositional ideas. Here are four such recent explorations done low tech in either Posca pen, Pitt pens, or permanent markers.
Grayscale is something I will be experimenting with more this year to heighten my sensitivity to value relationships in my artwork.

I love to doodle while I’m listen to something else. Here are two recent doodles of mine… 12” x 18” each.
As a doodler in general, I made it official at Christmastime with a very large, 12” x 16” Moleskine journal dedicated to the subject. (See here for details.) The pages are thick enough for no bleed through and I’m happy with it! Check out here the first two creations contained therein!
Still doodling in church to hold my concentration, it also becomes a nice record of what I’ve been thinking about and working with. I hope you enjoy these too…
