Happy Halloween!
I had planned photos of pumpkins today, but since we have no power at the moment that is not happening. Since I’m putting out this post on my phone instead of my usual method, you are getting photos from there.
Above you can see the indian corn I chose for our front door this year over the usual pumpkins on our front step. And below you can see the reason we have no power. Five years to the day after our trees came down during Hurricane Sandy (see here) our neighbor’s tree across the street came down in wind and rain, also snapping down telephone poles and spewing live wires. Like us, 135,000 households in Connecticut are still without power.
So for trick or treat today, we are waiting to see if we’ll get our power back and be able to get out of our driveway any time soon. Meanwhile, we are close to town, so can charge our phones and get hot food; we also have a fireplace with plenty of camping equipment, so we are not suffering at all. Hold a good thought for our crammed freezer, though! We’re hoping this will be over soon, but so far, the mess is untouched after about 30 hours.
Here’s to hoping you have some safe fun today!

Thanks! That tree took down four telephone poles! They are here working on it now and it is easier to be patient when some action is happening!
