I’ve looked at and read many of these survey art books.  This one that I got from my library is considerably better than most.  It has a much wider range of techniques and media than most books.  I got some good ideas I want to explore, like making object’s shadows in their complimentary color.  To say that it is a “course” is a little misleading; this is not curriculum.  However, this could stretch anyone to try a medium, subject matter or style they haven’t before, since it presents so many possibilities. Need a Christmas gift for a budding artist? Consider this book; I give it 5 stars.
