I loved You Are Here and give it 5 stars. I read this because these two were hiking in the Lake District and Northumberland, where my husband and I will be next month. But regardless of that, this novel is a wonderful read, warm, charming, and often laugh out loud funny. This is more about the conversation while walking, and the dialogue here is honest and earnest with a large dash of humor, which makes it fun to read.
The plot is simple: two strangers on a coast to coast walk. It is not surprising to me that growth, healing, awareness, and yes love, grow along the way.
I listened to this, finishing it coming back from Maine, and the alternating chapters are read by male and female voices which do the story justice. There were bits I would have flagged to share with you if I had read it with my eyeballs, but this audio makes for a perfect listening experience. I am grateful I read reviews, so that I knew about it.
You too might like this story about a 10 day hike, which expands possibilities.

Polly, I’m very excited you’re going to the Lakes District. Maybe you’ve been there before? My family lived there for 6 years because of my husband’s work. We lived in Ulverston (South Lakeland). Our daughter went to high school in Windermere. We went to the Kendal church. Of course, the hiking there is the best!! You will love the stunning views! Feel free to ask me any questions about the area. I haven’t been to Northumberland but my husband and daughter went there to see the castles.
