Hiking and Dinner in Lake Tahoe (Photos)

Five Lakes Trail Lake Tahoe

We have flown into Sacramento to see our older daughter and meet her boyfriend’s family, but first we squeezed in a special day together at Lake Tahoe.

We hiked the Five Lakes trail, which was 1100 feet of immediate elevation gain, and then a loop at the top with lovely lakes, followed by returning down the way we came up. Of course, I saw compositions and textures everywhere as you can see below! We had a great time, and had a picnic lunch at the top.

Our daughter got us a room on points at the Hyatt where the 1960’s Winter Olympics were held, and they upgraded us to a lovely corner suite.

We capped off the day at the fabulous Spoon Restaurant in northwest Tahoe, which I can’t recommend strongly enough.

What a perfect time with our dear daughter!

I really wanted to bring lichen home to use in printmaking!

This formation (a face laying down looking upward) is why it’s called the Granite Chief Wilderness.

Dinner outside under the trees…

We inhaled these three appetizers before I got a photo of them…

King Salmon with Cilantro Pesto… wow… yum!

Amazing dessert we shared…

Shortbread with caramel, dark chocolate, and almonds. Fabulous.

Wonderful owner at this terrific restaurant in northwest Tahoe. Can’t recommend it enough.
