We had a lovely long weekend with our younger daughter home.
Thursday morning, we went to church and expressed our gratitude to God for all the good in our lives. Below you can see some of our friends in our small group there. Then we came home and made a simple gourmet meal for three.
We had gorgeous tuna steaks with an anchovy sauce, kale salad with cranberries, gorgonzola, and toasted pecans, and a new trial dish that came out well, a Vidalia Onion Gratin. As the day was cold and rainy, we congregated around the fire, reading and working on projects, having our dessert of apple turnovers later in the day.
Then you can see some photos from the rest of our weekend. My husband planted tulip bulbs in my cutting garden, and I spent a bunch of time on the phone. We walked together at Huntington State Park on the dry days, and had several more fires in our fireplace.
Also below, you can see some of what we ate on some of the other days, most notably fabulous halibut and swordfish from our friends at Community Shellfish. Links to recipes on the blog for things pictured are noted below the photos, highlighted in blue.
And as quickly as it came, the weekend is over, with our daughter heading back today to her apartment and job, to return at Christmas time. All of us will do a lot meanwhile!
I hope you also had a nice, restorative, well-fed weekend with those you love.
