To communicate here the struggle to understand, I intentionally broke compositional “rules” to lend a more chaotic feel. Also the choice to use collage scraps felt metaphoric, as I worked to piece things together, and sought the comfort of possible harmony. Additionally, collage allows for much layering and complexity, which is relevant to this subject. The title “trying” suggests an attempt to understand but missing the mark, but seeking none-the-less.
One thing I’ll say, is that making art sure helps. This is one reason why I love abstract art in particular.
This is 12″x16″ and done in my new larger artist journal with painted paper collage. As I’ve said so many times, an artist journal is a great place to work things through, and is especially helpful in times of trouble, confusion, curiosity, meditation, boredom, or grief. Maybe you too need this in your life.

Does this evoke how you are feeling too?

I love how this came out. The instant I saw it I was able to take a deep breath and say “OOOOH.” Thank you for making this art and sharing it.

Beautiful!
I appreciate your ability to put into words and artistic expression with such eloquence issues that many of us are concerned about. Thank you! -
Love these wrestlings of colour and direction and yes it resonates with me, while trying to express clarity in my own fields of endeavor.
