Our first morning in the area, we headed up two expensive cable cars to the highest elevation around, to get the world class view and indulge ourselves with the expensive all-you-can eat breakfast at the revolving restaurant overlooking it all (that had been in a James Bond movie). The weather had said it would be clear, but our experience was otherwise. Maybe we shouldn’t have headed up anyway, but we thought it would clear, which it did not. The first couple of pictures are from google images of what we should have seen; then you can see what we saw: it was all socked in with clouds. This was all a bit frustrating for me, since I’d waited so long to be there, and this was the low point of the whole trip.
If lack of visibility one morning was the worst we had, I could deal with it, and we changed our hiking plans from the higher elevation near Birg, to the meadows near Allmendhuel, above Mürren. And then we had a lovely time, cavorting with cows, exalting in flowers, admiring wood piles.

It’s so hot here in South Florida. Your photos cool me off❤️

I especially love the photos of the cows and of the snail. The faces of the cows are so expressive! At least your descent down the mountain offered glorious scenery. We have been to that restaurant. It is most unfortunate that it was covered in clouds. I hope your meals were tasty though.

I share your frustration with the lack of view! We’ve had similar experiences in beauty spots a couple of times! But somehow manage to find positives out of the experience, as you did.
I’m enjoying the daily experience of travelling with you all and am so glad you were able to make such a marvellous trip. You must have spent ages planning and looking forward to it, that’s always an exciting part of any venture for me. X
