Spirit Moved upon the Face of the Waters (New Conceptual Painting)
Spirit Moved upon the Face of the Waters painting Spirit Moved upon the Face of the Waters (acrylic collage) by Polly Castor

The phrase “the Spirit of God moved on the face of the waters” is in the very beginning of the Bible (Genesis 1:2). It refers to what scientists call the “primordial soup,” and that is what this painting depicts.

It is a 30″x40″ acrylic painting with collaged handmade papers, and was made during my artist-in-residency in Maine.

The original already sold directly at camp.

You can see the entire painting above, and details of it below, along with a silly shot of me with it to give it scale.

I work to amplify good wherever I find it. I love color, texture, beauty, great ideas, nature, metaphor, deliciousness, genuine spirituality, and exploring new territory. I encourage authenticity, nurture creativity, champion sustainability, promote peace, and hope to foster a new renaissance where we all are free to be our most fulfilled, multifaceted, and terrific selves.
