I just returned from a wonderful plein air painting retreat with friends in Maine. Pictures from that will flow in through the blog this week. While I settle back in, you can see this painting I did our first day there. Due to rain it was painted inside, but of a prevalent local scene.
I find lupine to indeed be luscious, hence the title. I have wanted to paint them since visiting Nova Scotia in 2019, so I jumped on this opportunity. I love the contrast of their bright variegated colors that contrasts so beautifully with the greens of surrounding scenery.
Luscious Lupines is an impressionistic piece done in pastel. It is 18’x24.” You can see the entire work above and details of it below.
You can purchase the original here.
Or obtain prints and merchandise of it here.
Has anyone read the excellent picture book about Miss Rumphius? Maybe that’s where my love for lupines began.
