James’ Homemade Granola (Recipe)

James’ Homemade Granola (Recipe)

Granola Recipe

Everyone loves James’ homemade granola. It is not too sweet, and it doesn’t have coconut. It is hearty and great for breakfast with milk or yogurt and fresh blueberries. It is also great for snacking; for this I like to add dried blueberries.

Houseguests often ask for the recipe, so this recipe is finally making an appearance on this blog to make it is easier to share. Make this for your families and guests too, and they be so happy. It could even make good Christmas presents, that how welcome it is.

5 cups organic old fashioned rolled oats
1 pound raw pecan halves
8 ounces slivered raw almonds
1 cup raw pumpkins seeds (or pepitas)
1/2 cup melted butter or ghee
3/4 cup real maple syrup
2 Tablespoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup flax seed meal
1/2 cup hemp hearts
optional (one cup dried fruit)

Preheat oven to 350ºF

In a very large bowl mix the oats, the pecans, the almond slivers, and the pumpkin seeds (or pepitas) and mix well. Add the melted butter/ghee and maple syrup, and stir well. Then add the cinnamon, salt, flax seed meal, and the hemp hearts and stir well.

Pour into a large roasting pan (or some large baking dish that has sides on it so you can stir it well), and bake 20 minutes. Remove from oven, and stir well. Return to oven and bake for 15 minutes. Remove from oven and stir well. Return to oven for ten minutes, and take out and let cool.

Add dried fruit if desired.

Enjoy!
