Mindful Awareness (New Poem by Polly Castor)

Mindful Awareness poem

Mindful Awareness

You watch your thoughts,
but they are not you.
You are aware of the thinker,
but separate from it, observing it.
You are objective, aloof, conscious,
deeper and higher, beyond
any cognitive static or noise.
You are love or joy or existence.
You are not your emotions,
or opinions, or judgements.
You persist as
unequivocal equanimity,
impartially witnessing everything,
wide open, serene, and sincere.
You look out
as it all parades by,
those feelings, dreams,
happenings, or suggestions.
Be alert to the fact
that you are the one
that is aware, and that
without that awareness
you would cease to be.
That literally is you–
all there is to you.
Now do you see
how essential it is
to express diligent,
devotedly dedicated
mindfulness?
And to avoid
mind-numbing distractions
where you evaporate,
get plowed under,
stifled, and obscured?
Embrace that real
seat of your soul,
whose authenticity
is not of your own making.
Peer and gaze forth from there,
interfacing with all
that is not you,
to experience most fully
all that is.

Bless you darling Polly! You, my precious friend, have laid this out so clearly – I am going find it extremely helpful. I have read something similar to this but the way you put it is so clear. Thank you for your commitment to reality and our true nature!
