Woodland Compositions

After an amazing summer, I’m finally home for good, and enjoying our Connecticut forest again. September is a lovely season here to hike and I have been making the most of it.

Here are a few vignettes that caught my eye. I cannot help seeing compositions at every turn. All of this looks like abstract painting fodder for me.

It is all miraculous to me: trees growing out of rocks, a halo of light reflected in water, the texture of rock and wood, the artful spacing of random trees, the pattern created by small branches, the wiggly stems of the mountain laurel, the little berries and tiny flowers, the variety of greens in the mosses and lichen, the colossally enormous rocks deposited by vast glaciers, the fascinating little shadows punctuating a leaf, the golden glow at the end of the day.

I love it all and can’t get enough of it! In these photos, you can check it all out with me, as if we got to do these walks together.

I work to amplify good wherever I find it. I love color, texture, beauty, great ideas, nature, metaphor, deliciousness, genuine spirituality, and exploring new territory. I encourage authenticity, nurture creativity, champion sustainability, promote peace, and hope to foster a new renaissance where we all are free to be our most fulfilled, multifaceted, and terrific selves.
