Labor Day Weekend at Home

Labor Day Weekend at Home

Like the weekend before I went to Maine for my artist-in-residency, this last weekend was also full of friends, family, food and fun. I started cooking up tomatoes and zucchini from our garden, went to the farmer’s market, and made Sweet Corn Chowder.

We had three different friends here in succession for meals, including a spontaneous out-of-state friend that was driving by and thought to call.  Another friend visited me at the quarry for my last swim of the summer. (Two of those four friends are pictured below, and are fellow blog readers of yours.) All that was followed lastly by having another out-of-state nephew, this time on my husband’s side, here for dinner.

After being gone so much this summer, I’m reveling in a full refrigerator, the huge elephant ear leaves out front, the light streaming in the house, the dinner plate dahlias in the yard, and hanging out with James.

Today I start back in a regular fall groove, getting into my usual routine. As fun and amazing as my summer was, all this is wonderful too.

I work to amplify good wherever I find it. I love color, texture, beauty, great ideas, nature, metaphor, deliciousness, genuine spirituality, and exploring new territory. I encourage authenticity, nurture creativity, champion sustainability, promote peace, and hope to foster a new renaissance where we all are free to be our most fulfilled, multifaceted, and terrific selves.
