Carpe Diem (pastel) by Polly Castor

I am in this juried show at the Madison Art Society. You can see the show at the Scranton Library in Madison through this month. My painting above is in the show.

I’m a little disappointed that the show was hung with all the abstract art huddled together in the corner, rather than mixed in. Also, the representative work in the show is much stronger than the abstract work, so my piece does not really show well among the other abstract work. I’m trying to feel that even this is progress, because I remember a day when not much abstract work was accepted…

I work to amplify good wherever I find it. I love color, texture, beauty, great ideas, nature, metaphor, deliciousness, genuine spirituality, and exploring new territory. I encourage authenticity, nurture creativity, champion sustainability, promote peace, and hope to foster a new renaissance where we all are free to be our most fulfilled, multifaceted, and terrific selves.
