The day we left Yosemite last month, we drove to Paso Robles, to be poised to spend the day at Hearst Castle. What a contrast. Tomorrow I’ll show you the amazing insides of this place, but first I thought I’d give you a view of the setting.
Newspaper baron William Randolph Hearst used to camp here, but decided to build something “more comfortable.” The spot is incredible, on a high hill overlooking the Pacific, on a mere 80,000 picturesque acres. We enjoyed the views, the garden, statuary, tiles, trees, flowers, and architecture in perfect weather.

That is one breathtaking home. Is it now a museum or do the Hearst family still use it? -
Author The Hearst family still owns the land but the home (castle and cottages) are now a California State Park.
