New Poem by me: Five Smooth Stones

New Poem by me: Five Smooth Stones

5 Sooth Stones

Five Smooth Stones

David,
calmly confident
went after Goliath
armed with five
carefully chosen
smooth stones.

Turns out,
he only needed to use one:
it was enough.

When facing my giants
what smooth stones do I select?
I’ve decided on these:

1)God is good
2)God is omnipotent
3)God is ever-present
4)God is infinite
5)God is Love.

Any one of those
aimed well
can knock
whatever terrorizing menace threatens you
right off his feet.

It doesn’t matter
how ominous or intimidating
how frightening, hulking or looming
how affluent or insistent
or how much brawniness or burliness
is claiming dominance
while attempting to make slaves
out of you and yours…
if you come in the name of the Lord.

Put your five smooth stones in a bag
and carry them with you always
knowing that with God
you too must prevail.

There are all sorts of bullies these days
but they just crumple and deflate
when smacked in the head
with a single well placed truth
assertively, silently,
and mentally
slung.
