Some things must leave so other things can arrive.

…as if this quiet day
with its tentative light weren’t enough,
as if joy weren’t strewn all around.

Whose tune do you think
the planets are singing
as they dance?

The pitcher cries for water to carry and a person for work that is real.

When someone deeply listens to you,
your bare feet are on the earth
and a beloved land that seemed distant
is now at home within you.

Let us, then, be up and doing,
With a heart for any fate;
Still achieving, still pursuing,
Learn to labor and to wait.

Softly the moon ascends and lets its beauty shine,
Serene in its own place, as I would be mine.
