An experienced Christian Scientist recently recommended following my daily prayer time with choosing one thing I had pondered while praying, and then to write it down in a journal. The idea was then to stick to this idea, bringing it forward at the helm of thought into every aspect of that day.
I loved this idea, and since I’ve been keeping a Bullet Journal for so long, this new list fits easily into both that practice and my daily prayer life. I have since enjoyed doing it, and encourage you to incorporate this into your own daily life as well.
One of you blog readers, when hearing this idea is already planning on buying journals as gifts for those on her Christmas list for just this purpose. But there is no need to be fancy about where you write these down. The blessings come from the follow through, although there is all sorts of dramatic evidence (see here for example) of the power received just by writing down one’s goals.
And since so many of you like my growing series of Grace Notes, it occurred to me you might enjoy seeing some of these nuggets from my prayer life from time to time. I hope by posting them to support this practice both for you and me going forward. This is not a list of what I’ve necessarily proven or accomplished, but more of what I aspire to. Please feel free to add some nuggets from your own prayer life in the comments below.
Here are some nuggets from my private prayers that I’ve been outwardly working on lately:
- Eternal Truth is changing whatever needs to be changed in my concept of myself or others. There is nothing to stand in the way for this to be done in me or anyone else.
- God is all right action. I am active by reflection, and protected from effects of any actions that are unGodlike. There is no inertia or delay in God’s all powerful action, no stagnation, over exertion, nor reactivity. I can rest in God’s harmonious action.
- God is establishing the work of my hands. (See Psalm 90:17) I am humbly obedient to God’s instructions of exactly what to do in all my work. God directs closely my artwork, for example. I cannot fear messing a piece up, and there is no indecision or dissatisfaction in the one Mind I am expressing. I experience beauty, engagement, power and release when I paint. I can trust God to do my art for me.
- The only power anyone has is proportional to the extent they align themselves with God.
- “All things work together for good to them that love God.” (Romans 8:28) My job is to love God and to understand that we all can and do feel that love, as well as its effects, now and always.
- “Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the Lord” (Jeremiah 23:24) Divine Love fills all space. Anything unlike Love cannot remain. It has no space nor power. Ponder infinite Love’s entirety and supremacy today!
- “I will believe the Truth about myself no matter how beautiful it is.” (from a camp song)
- The divine Mind is a pure and exalting influence on my body. Spirit is reforming me anew.
- The demands of this day are already fulfilled by God. This day does not return unto me void.
- Rejoice that I exist at the standpoint of opportunity, and so does everybody else!
- Let me look today for the evidence of what the offspring of God looks like.
- God is omnipresent, therefore all inclusive. That inclusivity of ever-present good is always revealing itself.
- I have dominion. How can that be made practical today?
- To truly be in awe is to honor God. Let wonder and amazement dazzle me!
- See our un-optional perfection. Really, no joke.
- The world does not control my thinking.
- “I do not frustrate the grace of God.” (Galations 2:21)
- God fixes all incorrect identification. I (and all) are only what God made us to be, and only can know and think of ourselves that way. That’s how “The Lord openeth the eyes of the blind: the Lord raiseth them that are bowed down: the Lord loveth the righteous:” (Psalms 146:8) Blindness and infirmity are just impersonal misconceptions that need to be released and not identified with anyone. God loves those who identify themselves correctly (spiritually); this is what righteousness means. So do it!
- “Stand porter at the door of thought. Admitting only such conclusions as you wish realized in bodily results, you will control yourself harmoniously.” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy page 392)
- Control how you prepare and how you respond.
- Be grateful for every scrap of good (and thus be fitted to receive more). Realize that there is always more. You can count on it.
- Wear the armor of God to stand against the “wiles of the devil.” (Ephesians 6:11) Defend others from those “wiles” too.
- “Charity begins at home.”(adage) (Webster: Charity: kindness and tolerance in judging others.)
- Do more spiritual listening.
- See as God sees!

Great idea – simple yet easy to turn to as the day proceeds. These nuggets will always be right “at home” in consciousness anywhere, anytime.
Thank you! :-)
