We had a great time in California seeing our oldest daughter last week.
Tuesday and Wednesday we spent in Sacramento where she lives, showing my husband (her father) around, touring the Leland Stanford Mansion, as well as the Capitol (which I had seen already last summer), and running errands with her for some home improvement projects (Costco, IKEA, Home Depot) she needed help with.
The weather was spectacular. The flowers were amazing, as you can see in these photos. The photo above shows our daughter’s view of the Capitol as she heads into the building to testify at legislative hearings, and the photo below with the bear statue, shows her in front of the Governor’s office. Surrounded by glorious spring beauty, it was fun to spend some time in her stomping grounds.
After this, all three of us headed out of town for some adventures…

Oh, those California blossoms! After a drought, when a little rain comes those succulents that have been sitting quietly holding themselves together for the long dry haul suddenly open out and some shoot up long stalks that within a day or two have bizarre Dr. Seuss-like flowerheads. Amazing!
And the poiny cacti bulging with sweet fruit.
