Last Friday morning I had the pleasure of meeting a friend for a hike at Bent of the River, which is a lovely place where our children used to take homeschooling nature classes, learning about vernal pools, bird identification, and water salinity, etc. I hadn’t been there in over a decade. It was so terrific to be back, and the crisp, dewey morning was gorgeous.
I loved the reflections in the river, the sparkle on the grasses, the red berries again a cobalt sky, asters, goldenrod, dahlias, and the biggest bullfrog (he’d fill BOTH hands!) that I’ve seen since childhood. I was so grateful to have the kind of lifestyle that allowed me to be there on such a pristine weekday morning.
In these photos, come along and enjoy this precious walk with me.

Thanks, Polly, for sharing those beautiful pictures. What kind of berries are those? I don’t believe we have those here on the west coast.
