New Painting: Blooming Crabapple in Evening Light

Blooming Crabapple in Evening Light (painting in acrylic) by Polly Castor

–

Here is the painting I did this week of a crabapple tree about a block from our house, captured in the evening’s glowing light. I prepared the cradled wood panel with fiber paste before painting this in acrylic, which gives the work a nice texture. It’s size is 16″x20″ and you can see the process photos below.

  1. Polly, How wonderful that you have that crab apple tree right in your neighborhood. There are some breath taking flowering pear trees in my neighborhood that I would love to catch. Thank you for sharing your process photos and your talent.

  2. What a gas! Nicely done. I love it. We had such a tree in our yard; however, laden with fruit, it fell down last year in a big rain storm. I feel better now!
