Ilwha Kim (Featured Artist)

South Korean artist Ilhwa Kim makes fabulous, undulating, sculptural works of art out of thousands of handmade paper ‘seeds.’

“Each piece is created through the meticulous process of hand dyeing, cutting and rolling of mulberry paper into unique ‘seeds’. These seeds are then used in their hundreds and thousands to create intricate patterns and forms that boast innumerable interpretations on what is very much a three dimensional canvas.”

Check out some of her work in this post as well as on her website where there is an interview with her as well.

Isn’t this magnificent?

    Question: WHAT is ART…all…ABOUT??

It never ceases to stun, amaze, astound, confuse, impress me!

Is it…our….divine….SOUL…requiring/demanding to be EXPRESSED?? Oh, yes, this must be it!! Of course.

Thanks for yet another amazing post, Polly!

WOW! I feel like I’m looking at living, breathing, gently swaying coral underwater. As if I was looking at art underwater with my scuba-mask on. What a great technique and expression. Bravo!
